FAQs
If your questions is not listed below, please ask in the form below:
Will my existing AGM or lead-acid charger work on a LiFePO4 battery?
No. AGM and wet-cell chargers use a different charge voltage profile and will either undercharge your lithium battery or cause the BMS to cut out. A dedicated LiFePO4 charger like this one is essential to correctly charge to 100% and protect cell life.
Which Amptron batteries is this charger suited to?
The 15A output is ideally matched to batteries between 50Ah and 100Ah. At 15A, it charges a 50Ah battery in approximately 3.5 hours and a 100Ah battery in approximately 7 hours. For 150Ah and 200Ah batteries, the 30A or 40A charger is recommended for a practical charge time.
What is the BMS wake-up function and when do I need it?
If your battery's BMS has triggered a low-voltage protection shutdown (the battery appears completely dead and won't respond), the wake-up feature momentarily applies charge voltage at a low current to rouse the BMS back into an active state. Once the battery responds, the charger ramps up to full current automatically. This is a critical feature for recovering a deeply discharged lithium battery.
Does it work with a standard Australian 240V power point?
Yes. The charger accepts 200V to 264V AC input, making it compatible with all standard Australian 240V single-phase mains power points. No adaptor or special wiring is required.
Is it safe to leave connected overnight or unattended?
Yes. Once the battery reaches full charge, the charger drops to a trickle maintenance current (0.6A to 0.9A) and holds the battery at float. The built-in over-voltage, over-current, and short-circuit protection automatically manages any fault conditions and self-resets once the issue is resolved.
